It is imperative to avoid contact with your face unless it is absolutely necessary. Both your hands and face are naturally oily, and when they come into contact this oil can build up, clogging pores and leading to the formation of blemishes. As oily as your hands are, your hair is even worse. If you are a girl or guy with long hair, it is important to do what you can to keep your hair off your face. Wear a ponytail when you can, especially when you sleep. If you leave your hair down when you are in bed, then chances are your hair is in contact with your face for a period of several hours each night. Finally, perspiration can be another major contributor to breakouts on the face. If you are an athlete or you are just naturally sweaty, it is a good idea to clear sweat off the face as frequently as possible. The longer sweat remains on the face the more likely it is for your pores to become blocked, and for acne to develop.

Unfortunately, no matter what you do to keep your face clean, chances are it will still be pretty dirty by the end of the day. This is totally natural, and isn't something to fret over. Still, it is important to do what you can to clean your face at least once, preferably twice a day. Using a daily facial scrub before bed and in the morning can clear off the oils that have inevitably built up over time, and doing so can really reduce the frequency of acne outbreaks and even treat pimples that already exist.
